MANILA (Thomson Financial) - Rates on Philippine benchmark Treasury bills fell across the board at a government auction Monday after the auction committee rejected high bids ahead of the release of its fiscal report tomorrow, the Bureau of Treasury said.

The treasury bureau accepted 3.29 billion pesos worth of bids out of the 6.0 billion pesos it offered. Tenders totaled 9.675 billion pesos.

The yield on the 91-day Treasury bill, which banks use in pricing loans, slipped to 3.672 percent from 3.700 percent at the last auction on Nov 5.

The 182-day T-bill rate dropped to 4.692 percent from 4.707 percent previously.

The 364-day T-bill rate fell to 5.567 percent from 5.628 percent.

The high offers caught the government by surprise. The rates would have gone up had the auction committee made a full award of the offer.
